Different Layers Of A Residential Roof
Homes come in all different shapes and sizes. Some are longer than others and the pitch may be stricter than others. Here in Bethesda, most of the roofs in MD use an asphalt shingle, on which we have repaired several roof leaks. However, it is not the only type of roofing material. There are other materials sometimes used. For example, cedar shake, slate, rubber, or metal roofing material.
This is only the top layer of your roof, but there are more layers below that you cannot see. For example, just below the top layer is a protective sheeting. To protect this layer from moisture, the installer placed this layer down before polishing the roof. Many times, if shingles also enter, it can cause water to enter your home and cause roof leaks.
Just below this layer is the last and it is wood. If you have ever gone through an unfinished house, you have probably seen it, it is the plywood that you lay on top of the house before going to the asphalt shingles. It is usually a strong layer of wood so that it can support the remaining load of roofing material that is on top of it.
You can feel confident that the residential roofing material of your home does not matter. We can fix it and are working to get it back to normal in no time. Call Bethesda Roofing Pro to estimate a roof repair now!
